Using layers to control xref scene visibility

Using layers to control xref scene visibility

Postby WillC » Tue Dec 22, 2009 8:30 pm

I have to render multiple versions (32) of multiple models (65 and counting) showing and hiding various combinations of objects. The models are made up from a library of common sub assemblies using xref scenes. Can LPM switch layers on and off if the objects on the layers are xrefs?

Thanks,

Will.

Hey,
Currently turning off layers works only as you described, not changing those properties,
Though to turn XREF scenes on and off just use the xref scene node.

Thanks Lukas,
Don't know why I didn't spot that feature before. I'll try it out but it would still be better if I could control the visibility using layers; by using common layer names in all my xref scenes I can show/hide components from different xref scenes in the master scene. This reduces the number of xrefs I need and the number of objects to turn on or off when I set up the render passes. As I am setting up 32 passes on each scene this is significant. Is it possible that a future version of LPM might have the option of controlling visibility at layer rather than object level?
Thanks,

William.
